Cotton Candy Love

If you’ve never had the chance to watch cotton candy in the making, I want to recommend that you do, maybe before summer or fall and the carnivals and fairs are over. It’s a fascinating process to watch, one that yields layer upon layer of a pretty pink confection that’s sweet to eat and sticky to touch.
The creative machine takes the small pink or colored granules and spins a web that doesn’t stop winding until forced off by twists or cuts. Best of all, the creator equipment will keep making this sweet delicacy as long as it’s fed the sugary granules.
Now it might be a strange analogy, but I relate to the whole cotton candy process as a metaphor for Universal Love. I believe the concept is similar in many ways. The awareness of Universal Love often starts in tiny pieces, especially when our indoctrinations into the human world didn’t furnish what we needed to help us understand unconditional love. Our awareness of human love usually starts small, maybe between certain family members or nurturing individuals in our lives. We often feel a higher awareness of love as we grow, recognizing love with relatives, pets, nature, friends and communities. In adulthood, our awareness widens even more, particularly with the growing practices of meditation and prayer and the beginnings of self-love. As we get to know ourselves better, we can communicate more effectively with Divine Love, discovering how we can fit into the Love dynamic more completely. Much like our cotton candy, the more we understand ourselves, the more we allow all forms of love into our lives. From the smallest granules to the burgeoning lacey sweetness, the more Love we allow, the more we are able to relate to the ideas and feelings of Universal Divine Love.
We keep Love pouring into our lives by recognizing and allowing every form of true love to bless us in all ways, no matter how small. We also keep Love alive by sending our own love out to others in every way we can. Through meditative guidance and conscious thoughts, we extend the Universal Love we have received to all beings, in spite of differences, likes and dislikes, or opposing beliefs. We must understand that the Universal Love we’re talking about transforms all beings into a fellowship of One, just like the spinning cotton candy machine transforms the tiny sugar granules into one large sweet treat.
It’s also important to keep Divine Love intact by not withdrawing from it. When fear, distrust, anger, hurt and resentment cause us to pull back from Love, we effectively cut the cotton candy love supply to ourselves and to others. When that happens, more spiritual guidance (through meditation, readings, cord cuttings, reiki, prayer, affirmations, spiritual counseling, etc.) can help us get back on track, allowing Universal Love to return to our lives. Those methods and others will also help us feed love back into the Universe so that the circle of Divine Love is complete.
AFFIRMATION: I now use all the adult tools I have at my disposal to allow Universal Divine Love for myself and all others (and more whimsically, cotton candy love, in all its sizes, shapes, and colors) into my life and heart in all its forms.
