On Saturday, October 22, 2016, I was extraordinarily blessed to attend the ADL Carolinas' Chapter Event at The Namaste Center in Flat Rock, NC.
From the moment you entered their gathering place, Love was radiating from everyone. The day’s activities began with every person in attendance being invited to the front of the room to introduce themselves, sharing a brief biography of themselves and their work and/or ministry. ADL Ministry students, guests and those considering the ADL Ministry also shared with the group. It was a warm and wonderful way to not only to get to know everyone, but to hear about their work, a bit of their journey, and their goals. It created an atmosphere of camaraderie―a palpable spirit of friendship―which enabled many of us to engage in wonderful conversations with someone whom we now “knew” and with whom we could build a meaningful relationship in The Greatest Degree of Love.
After these sharing introductions, Rev. Pam Crissey invited members of the ADL Board of Trustees, past and present, including Rev. Dr. Jo Ann “Elf” Pessagno, Rev. Dr. Wanda Beebe, Rev. Charlotte McGinnis, Rev. Dr. Linda Marie Nelson, and then all ADL Ministers, to participate in the Renewal of Vows for ADL Ministers. Beautiful long-stemmed red roses lent their beauty as Rev. Dr. “Elf”, President of the ADL Board of Trustees, conducted the recitation of the ADL renewal of vows. This beautiful ceremony was followed by an Ordination of new ADL Ministers, conducted by ADL Mentor, Rev. Brian Crissey. This was, for me, one of the most moving ordination ceremonies I have ever experienced....
These three men were ordained by their ADL Mentor, Rev. Brian Crissey, in this beautiful ceremony: Rev. Daniel J. Hanks, Rev. Dan Watson, and Rev. David Russell:
And the words Rev. Brian Crissey shared about these men and their ministry journey were profoundly felt. His words are posted in his section of the ADL web site here.
What occurred to me is that regardless of all the sound bites and contextual manipulations on the nightly news, the truth is that these four men (and many, many others) represent the reality that our world is embodying Love, our world is changing and Love will prevail.
When you reflect upon the fact that for hundreds and hundreds of years, ministry has been a male-dominated arena, you can see how The Alliance of Divine Love, called forth through women, and primarily a ministry where the majority of ministers are female, you can begin to “see” that this ministry has been a part of the shift of consciousness that has contributed to creating a balance of the masculine and feminine Spirit of the Creator in our entire world. And in recent years, many other traditional and non-traditional religions continue to ordain more and more women to their ranks…priests, rabbis, pastors, bishops, etc. And in many countries, more female leaders.
What I “see" is an evolving presence of the male and the female Spirit of the Creator within more and more women and within more and more men. What I “saw" at this ordination was four men in balance with the sacred aspects of the male and female Presence of the Spirit of the Creator. The Alliance of Divine Love has been blessed to welcome three more amazing men to our beloved ministry.
Our ADL Ministry, with all of its growing pains and challenges, is, nonetheless, an integral part of the shift of consciousness happening in our world that will ultimately result in healing for all, love for all, and peace for all.
And what also echoed in my heart and memory are the words of my beloved friend, soul brother, and fellow ADL ministry colleague, Rev. Dr. Bob Estling, who delighted in declaring: “The Good News Is…There Is only Good News!”
May we all continue to be The Greatest Degree of Love to all in our world!
